All About GATE Stipend

1.How much I will get as stipend?

  

  Rs.12400 per month.

2.For how many months I will get stipend?

      

Normally in all NITs , classes start from july last…So 2016 july last week to 2018 April (Stipend is calculated on daily basis.(Per day Rs.410)

3.What about Stipend in state colleges and other private colleges?

      Now all MTech students who qualified GATE will get Rs 12400…My friend in MIT(Manipal) has been getting Rs 12400 from feb 2016(Earlier ,they were getting only Rs 8000).

4.What’s the procedure for getting stipend?

    Every month MTech guys have to fill one stipend form……And in NITs every day we have to sign attendance register for getting stipend….

And in some IITs biometric system is there(IIT Dhanbad)..If your college is strict about this,then its not easy to take leave,because you may loose your stipend for every leave.

5.Is there any  financial help other than GATE stipend?

In NITs during your second year project you will get Rs 10000 from govt.But you have to show all necessary bill,documents etc.

In NITs all your medical expenses are free(in NIT hospitals).If NIT hospital is referring you to any private hospitals ,then NIT will pay your private hospital bill(Long procedure,will take time),because you have medical insurance in almost all NITs

6.If I opt any interdisciplinary course ,will I get stipend?

Yes.You will get stipend in all colleges if you are GATE qualified irrespective of your course.But sponsored candidates will not get stipend.

7.If I leave NIT in between my course , what will happen to my certificates and stipend?

Normally  NITs there is no need to submit any original certifiactes during your course.Orginal certificates are required only during admission for certificate verification.You can leave NIT at any time,no need to repay your stipend(normally),NITs don’t care at all!!
