All about internal sliding in gate

Internal Sliding simply means

                “Same college , better specialization’’.

If you accept an allotted seat in round 3, you can go for internal sliding.

Check seats vacant for spot round (CCMT 2015), NIT Surathkal.

 

Here Group1 is for mechanical engineering B Tech background applicants… 

(1)Why there is no seats vacant for good branches(Thermal,Design,Manufacturing,Mechatroics),even though some applicants who got these branches surrendered their seats after getting IITs?

(2)Why so many seats are vacant seats for material science(least preferred specialization for mechanical)?

Answer for the first question questions is

                                                         “Internal Sliding”..

Answers for the second question are 

•   Internal sliding

•   Some guys who got material science in NIT surathkal ,surrendered their seats and appeared for spot round.

So if an applicant surrender his NIT Surathkal Thermal or Manufacturing seat before spot round after getting IIT ,his seat will be available for sliding….

If a material science guy  in NIT Surathkal ,filled options like this

1.NIT Surathkal Thermal

2.NIT Surathkal Manufacturing

3.NIT Surathkal Material science

Then he may get that vacant seat which is left by that IITian!.(depends on GATE scores of other material science candidates in same college).

Internal sliding is NOT GOOD for HIGH GATE SCORE holders(general category) who want to appear for spot, because all good branches will be filled after sliding..so in spot round ,seats will be available only for least preferred branches (Except north east NITs due to lack of connectivity by train and NIT Srinagar due to political issues and weather.)
